Around 40% of the U.S. plans to go on a family vacation every year. It can be a very rewarding experience if you all enjoy the same thing and build up stories and memories that can last a lifetime. But how do you choose what to do to get the best opportunity for fun with the family?

1. Beach Trip

The concept of an escape room is a little newer than most traditional activities. Still, these events have become a fantastic challenge for many families. Getting everyone in the same place to communicate and solve a mystery can really bring people together.
Make sure to find an escape room with a theme everyone can enjoy. Smaller children might find some more complex concepts a little more challenging. As such, you might want to look into one based on movies or TV shows the family enjoys.
You could even combine this event with the outdoor movie night mentioned above and have a themed day.
5. Scavenger Hunt
Either make a list of things to find, or find one online. Then, let your family loose.
Make sure to get a good prize for the people who come in first by finding the items fastest. This could be a cake, or it might be they are let off from chores like tidying up while you are on holiday that day.
If you want, you can even combine this with the hike mentioned earlier. This will encourage people to be looking around at all times, rather than on their phones.
6. Visit a Water Park
These are traditional places to go for the whole family. There are pools, rides, slides, and much more at most water parks. So, there should be something for everyone, even those too small or elderly to get on some of the faster rides.
Remember to bring sunscreen, towels, and plenty of water. Even if you are swimming in it, it does not mean you are taking it in.
The joy of any children you might have is not only infectious in a place like this but can last as a memory you can hold onto for years.
7. Cooking Classes
There are two ways of looking at cooking classes. Either it is a chance to get a few life lessons for you and your children as a family, or you can instead enjoy the fact you are going to make a mess. There is every chance different people in your family will have different things they are going to get out of this activity, so roll with it.
You might even be able to make something you can then make at home to rekindle the memory of your time together.
8. Safari Adventure
Who doesn’t want to see lions, tigers, and bears?
Look for a tour operator you can trust and ensure they offer safaris suited to families to avoid disappointment. You can then get a guided tour of the location you are in, and there is every chance you will see an animal you would never otherwise meet.
9. Water Activities
If you want to have a little adventure, look into the possibilities of kayaking, snorkeling, or many other water activities. You might even be able to find a local guide who can take your family on a kayaking trip.
10. Family Game Night
Sometimes you want to enjoy some time indoors with everyone. There is no guarantee it will be a quiet activity, but a family game night could lead to uproarious joy.
Make sure the games are interactive and well-rated to ensure you are not only going to be rolling the dice and moving. Put Monopoly in the trash can, and pick out something like Uno, Ticket to Ride, or Dungeons & Dragons instead.
